Report: Russia hopes to raise share of world energy market to 25%

ROME, Oct 11 (PRIME) -- Russia plans to raise its share of the international power market to 25%, Energy Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview to Italian daily La Stampa released on Thursday.

“Russia is a global energy superpower, it is a top exporter of gas and oil, and it holds 20% of this energy market. We plan to maintain our leadership, and we are working on the technological process in production and in (development of pipeline) infrastructure in Eastern and Western directions to achieve a market share of 25%,” he said.

“We know about construction of (the Trans Adriatic Pipeline). Infrastructure should always improve, but Russian gas remains more competitive from the point of view of quality and price, it can to react to growing demand in Europe better, and it is more accessible for fast delivery in case of a winter emergency.”
